Meet the Teacher

Hi! I’m Erin. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from UBC and previously practiced as a mental health nurse. I’ve worked with children, youth, adults, and seniors, and I’m especially focused on helping vulnerable and marginalized populations. Through years of experience as an educator, I’ve discovered that as much as I love to write, I love to teach even more. Read feedback from my students here!

I live with multiple barriers, including autism, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. Even as an experienced and confident writer, I struggle to participate in feedback-based creative writing classes. That’s why I’m offering an alternative for those who need it or just want to try something different. This approach is inspired by New Shoots, a decades-strong UBC Vancouver youth education program, for which I served as coordinator and mentor for 3 years.

I live in Victoria, BC. I enjoy horror stories, very cold water, and re-organizing my belongings.
